The formula for calculating the air gap in an electric motor:
Air Gap (AG) = (Inner Stator Radius (RS) – Outer Rotor Radius (RR))/2
Here, the “Outer Rotor Radius” is the radius of the rotor’s outer surface (half of the rotor’s diameter), and the “Inner Stator Radius” is the radius of the inner surface of the stator (half of the stator’s diameter).

If you know the diameters of both the rotor and stator of three phase induction motor , you can calculate their radii and then find the air gap using the formula above.
Keep in mind that this formula assumes a simplified cylindrical air gap, and the actual air gap in some motors may have variations and irregularities. In practice, a dial indicator or a feeler gauge set is often used to measure the air gap accurately as described in the previous response.
